When I was little, my older sister used to dye her (blonde) hair red with henna. It had a bit of an orange tint but the more she dyed it, the darker it got (but it also washes out bit after bit.
Last year I experimented with dying my hair black with black henna. Didn’t turn out that nice. I’m glad I didn’t dye more than a test-strand, because a year later it just looked like faded dark green.
Now onto red! Rather than just buying some cheap henna and ending up with very orange hair, I did a bit of research. There are actually several different types of henna (http://hennablogspot.com/how-to-choose-the-right-henna-powder/). I decided to try Yemeni, which is supposed to give a darker red.
I died my hair twice within a week. It was quite red but still had an orange tint.
